I was recently asked what my morning routine is, so I thought I would share it here as it’s an integral part of keeping me grounded and mindful throughout the day.
The following are some of the things I do when practising mindfulness to relax my mind and body:
First thing in the morning, before I get out of bed, I think of three things in my life that I am grateful for and another three things that haven’t yet happened that I am grateful for as well. I treat them as though they have happened and pay attention to the happiness this gratitude brings.
Once I’m up, I usually head downstairs to let out the dogs. When I open the door, I take a small step outside (no matter what the weather is like) and take three slow breaths in and out and set my intention for the day ahead. I find that this grounds me and sets a positive tone for my morning.
When I wash up for the day, I make a conscious effort to be present and aware of the process instead of just mindlessly rushing through my skincare routine. By really paying attention to what I’m doing, I feel as though I am putting more emphasis on me, on my feelings and senses, which makes me feel great. I love starting by washing my face with my Essence Noir Cleanser; it has a lovely fresh scent which includes essential oils that really wake up the senses. I take a few deep breaths to enjoy the scent even more.
I then splash my Essence Noir Tonic on my face, paying attention to the slight sensation that this acid based, high performing tonic gives. I love it! Then I apply my Baume Noir Face and Eye creams. I rub the Face cream on my fingertips, then bring them to my nose and, again, take a deep breath before applying the cream. I love the scent and the way it absorbs as I rub it in.
I’ve learned that how you start your morning can have an impact on the rest of your day - It’s amazing how much even the smallest things can contribute to a positive mindset! I hope that by sharing my own morning routine that sets me up for a successful, positive mindset and day, that it may inspire you as well.
